Walmart is making a big splash in the perfume market with a $1 billion deal with Justine Bieber, one of the biggest names in contemporary music.
The perfume is just one of several collaborations that the world-class company has with Biebers.
Walmart has already signed with a slew of notable names, including Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, and Gucci.
But there is a new contender on the perfume scene that is not just in line with the company’s overall makeup, but also with the perfume industry’s current trends: perfume-branded makeup.
In addition to the $1.25 billion that Walmart is getting in the deal, it will be getting a lot more for its perfume business.
That’s because it will also be making its own perfume, called Justine, with $1 million in financing from a partner, according to a press release.
“Justine is the next big thing in makeup and has a real impact on what we do at Walmart,” said Jill Johnson, vice president of global product marketing for Walmart.
“With Justine we’re bringing back one of our favorite brands and it’s a natural progression for us to continue to build the brand.”
The deal is the latest example of Walmart’s expanding cosmetics business.
In 2016, the company announced plans to open a beauty brand in India, a move that will make the company more accessible to consumers around the world.
While the company does not disclose exact numbers, the cosmetics industry’s revenue from fragrance alone is expected to hit $20 billion by 2020, according a study from the research firm IHS, which found that women are spending $10 billion more per year on cosmetics than men.
The perfume business is also one of Walmarts biggest growing segments, according an estimate from IHS.
It’s the sixth-largest category for Walmart in terms of sales and, as it grows, so do the companys margins.
For the first time, Walmart will be selling a $2.50 perfume in India and will be launching an India-only beauty line in partnership with Indian cosmetics company Anvil, which will sell just $20,000 worth of perfume in the country.
This deal is just the latest in a series of deals Walmart has made with Indian brands.
In 2016, Walmart acquired the brand beauty brand Nectar Beauty and the company will now sell a $3.50 beauty product in India with Walmart.com.
On Wednesday, Walmart announced that it would be selling $1,000 nail polishes in India for $25 each.
But this deal is far from the first.
Last year, Walmart bought the beauty brand L’Oreal for $3 billion, which is expected not to last much longer.
These are just a few examples of Walmart expanding into the beauty industry, but the cosmetics giant is also expanding into other categories, including home goods and electronics.
Walmart is already home to some of the most popular brands in the home and home decor, including Forever 21, Lush, and Marshalls.
Its beauty division has been on a tear lately.
Last month, Walmart was the first big-name retailer to buy Macy’s home goods chain for $8 billion.
Walmart also bought an undisclosed number of home furnishings brands.
Last week, Walmart said it would sell more than 3 million home goods to Chinese brands.
